England men's football team have made history by reaching the final of the European championships for the first time on foreign soil.
They’ve shown such resilience, determination have and surprised everyone. It’s set to be an emotional rollercoaster, but one we're looking forward to.
Our colleagues have shared these top tips to help with the stress of the occasion.
- Stay active and fit in some physical exercise – it gives you time to clear you mind, alleviates feelings of pressure and boosts endorphins
- Keep yourself occupied with relaxing or enjoyable activities before and after the game. Talk to people about how you are feeling, and consider switching off social media if need be.
- Enjoy yourself responsibly if you’re having a drink. Remember alcohol, along with caffeine and nicotine, can increase stress levels, so add some glasses of water too.
- If you struggle with stress, mood, or anxiety on a daily basis – not just when England are playing – then please do reach out for support from services like NHS talking therapies.
- Be proud and share in the experience with whoever you’re watching with. We made history in reaching the first men's final not on home soil – and we have great players for future tournaments!
- Accept there are things you can’t change – ultimately the game is out of all of our control, so just try to enjoy as best you can whatever happens.
Come on England, bring it home!
