We've worked with the Women's CHAI Project to train 29 women from Oldham's South Asian community to become local mental health champions.
The training helps them to recognise people who may need mental health support, so they can act as a first point of contact and signpost them to appropriate services.
Lynn Burton, service manager for our Oldham primary care networks and access services, said:
"We hope that these women will help to break the stigma of mental illness in their communities. Some of them now have a keen interest in working in mental health services, which is fantastic as we really want to have a workforce that represents the communities we serve."
