Bury Healthy Minds is running a wellbeing session for Bury Football Club fans experiencing any emotional distress or upset, by the news of the club’s expulsion from the football league.
This will provide a safe space for you to reflect on your emotions and recap on tips you can use to look after yourself at this time.
When: Friday 6 September, 10.30am – 12pm.
Where: Peel Room, Elizabethan Suite, Bury Town Hall, Knowsley St, Bury, BL9 0ST
Please note this session can support 80 people.
Liz Woodings, Bury Healthy Minds service manager, said:
“With Bury FC playing such a big role in many people’s lives, strong emotional reactions are completely understandable. It’s normal to feel very upset in circumstances like this because it’s such a big loss to our local community and identity.
"It’s important to take the time to look after yourself when you’re feeling down or struggling with feelings of grief or loss.”
- As a reminder, here are some tips that can also help you to look after yourself:
- Talk to others about how you’re feeling and share your emotions so they can offer support
- Find your tribe with other supporters who will understand your sense of loss
- Avoid drugs or drink, they won’t help your mood in the long run and could make things worse
- Look after yourself by eating well and getting enough sleep
- Do relaxing comforting things like going for a walk or having a bath
- Carry on with other hobbies or activities you enjoy
- Think carefully about how much time you spend on social media and watching the news, switch it off if it’s not helping
- Our self-help resources can offer support for lots of aspects of your mental health. Click here to find out more.
- If you’re struggling with stronger feelings or feeling very overwhelmed you might find it helpful to speak to your GP.
We’re also looking at some options for more sessions in future.
