We will not tolerate any form of abuse, discrimination or racism at Pennine Care.

We want people to feel safe and to thrive.

It is our responsibility to create safe, inclusive and supportive working environments and stamp out racism when we see it.

In 2020 we became the first NHS trust in the North West to publish an anti-racist statement, and publicly pledged our commitment to become an anti-racist organisation.

We have also just become the first NHS organisation in the North West to receive Bronze status from the North West Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Assembly in recognition of our work to become an anti-racist organisation.

We know we're still on a journey and that we need to improve in many areas.

Our key areas of focus include challenging poor behaviours, attitudes and the status quo to make a difference; improving our recruitment practices to appoint diversity from our local communities; educating, supporting and raising awareness of equality, diversity and inclusion; and working on advancing mental health equalities.

We need to continuously hold a mirror up to ourselves, educate ourselves, and challenge ourselves. We need to constantly seek ways to foster unity and understanding.

Good anti-racist practice for our workforce leads to better care for our patients and our communities.

In challenging times like these, we stand together in solidarity, recognising the importance of honouring lived experiences and backing our statements with actions.
